Letter to the Voters from Michael Caperton
MICHAEL O. CAPERTON
Candidate for Circuit Judge of Laurel & Knox Counties
Dear Voter,
I am Michael O. Caperton. I am currently running for the position of Circuit Court Judge presiding over my hometown of Laurel county as well as Knox county. I would like to introduce myself, provide background information, and hope to gain your vote and influence in my campaign for your Circuit Judge.
In 2007, I was elected as your Appellate Court Judge. In January of 2015, I retired from the Appellate Court. During my time on the Court of Appeals, I presided on panel and heard over two thousand cases. The experience gained by hearing cases at the Court of Appeals is valuable and gives an appellate judge a legal background second to none.
Prior to my service with the Court of Appeals, I served as a trial judge in the 27th district of Laurel and Knox for over 13 years and heard more than 100,000 cases. The voters in my district showed their confidence in my service through my reelection for 4 terms of office. Their continued support and your support elected me to the Court of Appeals in 2007. I appreciated all your votes of confidence in my ability. I now ask for your vote and influence in 2016, so that I may return to serve Laurel and Knox counties once again.
I attended Transylvania University, graduating in 1977, thereafter attended Cumberland College and obtained a teaching certificate, and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1987 with a Juris Doctorate. My daughters, now 22 and 23, are attending college.
On November 8th, 2016, your vote and influence will determine whether I may serve you again. Remember, this is a non-partisan ballot, everyone votes. I welcome your comments, concerns, and suggestions.
Thank you!
I urge you to speak to everyone you can and influence them to vote Caperton for Circuit Judge.
Yours Truly,
Judge Michael O. Caperton (ret.)
